| The
snow arrives and temperatures drop |
|
The much forecast snow arrived yesterday, and we awoke to a good
covering across the area. It hung around for a few hours and
by the end of the day it had all but melted. The daytime temperature
hovered around 2.0°C
after it had dropped to -1.9°C overnight.
Only two brief visitors were
recorded yesterday at 10.44am and 2.45pm:
Today started bright, but by mid-morning it was trying to snow
again. This seemed to rather confuse two Pheasants which were
picking up the spoils from the back garden feeders. They just
stood there, looked around and continually turned their heads
to one
side, allowing a eye to look upwards at the falling flakes around
them. We've also seen them do this before, when it has been very
foggy - it really doesn't take much to confuse a Pheasant!
Today saw two more visits, both at lunchtime:
It is now a week since the one and only entry was seen, but of
course the weather has been pretty awful at times, and the cold
snap doesn't help either.
The replacement outside camera has arrived today, so we'll see
if we can get it up and running tomorrow. It will be interesting
to see who is making these brief visits at present.
