Welcome
to Nest Watch for 2006.
On 20th January a nest box was
installed in our garden, located in Farnham on the Surrey/Hampshire
border in the United Kingdom.
Fingers were again crossed that
the nest box proved to be an attractive 'des-res' for Blue Tits,
and that they experienced a successful breeding season.
Cameras were located inside and outside the
box, constantly monitoring the birds.
Many birds took interest, and eventually
by mid February a pair had settled in. Nest building started
on 6th April and 10 eggs were laid early May. On the 11th June
they made the biggest flight of their lives and 10 healthy mini
Blue Tits fledged the nest!
These miraculous little birds were fascinating
to study, and most of the 140 days of their lives in and around
the box were documented in our diary.
This site allows you to share in that unfolding
story ...
